Legalization of Foreign Documents

Foreign documents intended to be used in Indonesia must be legalized by the Embassy or the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in the United States.

While providing legalization service, the Embassy/Consulate is not responsible for the content of the documents that need to be legalized.

Requirements

  • The documents must be originating from the States under the Consulate's jurisdiction (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin).
  •

  • The documents must first be notarized by a Notary Public, the County Clerk, and verified by the Secretary of State, with both their respective seals. The Consulate will not accept documents that lack of certification by the Secretary of State.
  •

  • The original documents will be returned by the Consulate.
  •

  • Must be accompanied by cover letter, which explains the nature of the documents and the purpose of certification.
  •

  • Self stamped address envelope or sufficient postage are required for return mail.
